Why is spektrum receiver flashing red

I am trying to bind a Spektrum receiver, but for some reason it's not working. I've followed the manual to the letter, binding link plugged in, power on, but there are no flashing lights on the Rx or satellite. Does that indicate a dud receiver?

I understand it may be a failed receiver, electronic devices do fail, but it's exactly the same with three other receivers, an AR, an AR, and an S, no flashing lights, so the binding process cannot proceed. To confuse the issue, the AR and AR receivers has been flown in the past, so binding had been successful. I have also had the S bind, hasn't flown, although I did have it operating on the bench in a Bird of Time I'm getting ready to fly.

I've checked operation of the receiver in the aircraft I'm currently flying, and it's all OK. One receiver failure I understand, two unlikely, three almost impossible. Does anybody have any ideas on what's going on here? Tags: None. Comment Post Cancel. One thing that happened to me was I had the radio too close to the receiver. Someone told me to try and bind a few feet from receiver. Try having the radio at least 5 feet away and try that.

It worked for me once. Originally posted by Beeg View Post. Missed that part. Is he getting any lights? You might have the plugs the wrong way, most have the signal pin up, the AR and AR they go down. I sent an AR to spektrum once for repair and got it sent back with a little piece of paper in nice terms dummy most problems are solved by reading the manual I looked on the receivers diagram and sure enough.

Hope this helped. As TI said it sounds like not getting power for some reason. Couple of questions: Is your transmitter capable of DSM2? Is it in DSMX mode? A bind plug is simply a jumper between signal and ground wire. Sometimes one wire breaks loose. How are you connecting the 6V battery to the receiver?

Then, I turn on my Dx5e and unsuccessfully try to bind. I know that the red light needs to be blinking. Do you guys have any suggestions as to what I did wrong? Wait for the blinking light on receiver to go solid and you should be bound.

Although you might get more help if you posed this right section.. Under General RC Topics, select "Electric Aircraft", then select "multirotors" then select the "multirotor newbie section at the top.. Post this there and you will get a faster and more accurate response - Good luck! New member Mentor. May 30, I made sure it was on DSMX, but the receiver still had the solid red light and one orange light blink.

Should I disconnect the receiver from the power distribution board and plug it in to a plain single ESC? The DX5e manual said this," Thanks guys for your help! FPVology Member May 30, I don't use PDBs but I don't think the receiver should be connected to it.

Do you a pic of your setup? Yeah skip the flight controller board to bind your receiver. Plug in the bind plug then connect your esc and only your esc directly to your receiver and plug in the battery. The top left corner of your transmitter top top not top of the front should have a momentary "trainer" switch. While holding the trainer switch on then turn on your transmitter. It should beep weirdly and display BIND on the screen.

Wait for the one blinking light to go solid OR it may just shut off since you have 2 lights. Regardless it shouldn't be blinking like it was before. It is now ok to release the trainer switch and remove the bind plug. Throttle up for a moment to confirm your motor turns and that will signal your properly bound. Now you can go hook up all your stuff and put the bind plug in the bottom of your box. Thanks, I will give that procedure a try in a little bit.

Also, I will try to post a picture of my setup if I can. Plug in the battery to the ESC before or after plugging into the receiver? Sorry, I am sort of a newbie. I agree with everything mesolost said and think that is a great next step except the part about the display showing "Bind". On the DX5e the lights should flash since it doesn't have a display. And to answer your question plug everything into the receiver before plugging in the battery.
